Xingjian Ding

Painter.
Shanghai-born, SoCal-raised. Currently lives and works between Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and Mexico City. These contrasting environments bleed into his paintings as washes and glazes, controlled mark-making, looming shapes, establishing shots, and ambiguous figures.
His current practice explores an “honest” narrative—intimate and reflective, shaped like the kind of truth we tell ourselves in a journal.

People stood sparingly across the hall - chatting, maybe reminiscing, scattered. Most of them dressed with somber. Blacks. Grays. Muted greens..

She cries & she smiles.. weary. Holding a plastic bag in one hand and her other hand tucked into the pocket of her oversized black coat. She hesitates at the threshold, sometimes gazing aimlessly - unable to enter.

The elderly soloist goes on and on.. an eternal echo.
